Common questions

1. What is a dental plan and how does it work?

A dental plan gives access to dental appointments and treatments, such as cleaning, fillings and root canal treatment, according to the coverage set by the Brazilian National Supplementary Health Agency (ANS).

To use the plan, you choose a professional from the accredited network, schedule the appointment and identify yourself as a beneficiary. Some procedures only become available after the waiting period.

Odontoprev offers different dental plan options for individuals, families and companies.

2. Is it worth taking out a dental plan?

For anyone who wants to keep up with oral health care, taking out a dental plan can be worthwhile. The monthly fee helps you plan expenses, while covered procedures remove the need to pay the full cost of each private appointment.

Value for money depends on the treatments you intend to have and how often you use the plan. An accredited network close to home or work also makes a difference. Odontoprev has more than 27,000 accredited dentists throughout Brazil.

If you already need a specific treatment, it is worth considering the procedures included in the plan and the waiting periods before you sign up.

3. What does a dental plan cover?

Dental plans regulated by the ANS follow the List of Health Procedures and Events, which sets the minimum mandatory coverage. It includes appointments, exams and treatments such as cleaning, fillings, root canal treatment and extractions.

Plans with extended coverage may include additional procedures, such as teeth whitening, orthodontics and other types of prosthesis.

At Odontoprev, you will find options with different coverage and can check the procedures included in each product before you choose.

4. Do dental plans have a waiting period?

A dental plan may have a waiting period, which is the time between the start of the contract and the release of certain procedures.

The ANS sets maximum limits of 24 hours for dental urgencies and emergencies and 180 days for other care.

Some plans offer shorter periods or a waiting-period waiver for certain coverage. In corporate contracts, the rules may also vary according to the number of beneficiaries and the enrollment conditions.

The applicable periods must be stated in the contract conditions.

5. How do I find a dentist accredited by Odontoprev?

You can find dentists accredited by Odontoprev on the Beneficiary Portal or in the app.

The search lets you locate professionals by address or ZIP code and select the dental specialty you need. You can also identify the plan using your beneficiary details or by selecting the corresponding network.

After you find a professional, confirm with the office that they accept your plan and schedule the appointment.

6. How do I choose the best dental plan?

The best dental plan is the one that meets your oral health needs and gives access to the treatments you intend to have.

People looking for preventive care may find what they need in plans with essential coverage. Anyone planning to start orthodontic treatment should look for options that include appliance placement and maintenance.

The availability of dentists in your area and the waiting periods also influence the choice.

Finally, consider the plan price and whether there are additional charges per procedure. That way you can assess the value for money of each option.

7. How much does a dental plan cost?

The price of a dental plan depends on the coverage you choose and how you sign up. Plans with additional treatments, such as orthodontics, may cost differently from those with essential coverage.

In the Odontoprev online store, for example, the Bem Estar plan costs R$ 48.90 per month on the monthly option or R$ 489.00 on the annual contract.

You will also find other coverage options and can check updated prices before you sign up.

8. What is copayment on a dental plan?

Copayment is an additional amount the beneficiary pays when using certain procedures covered by the plan, on top of the monthly fee.

There are also mixed plans, such as those from Odonto System, which combine treatments included in the monthly fee with others available for a specific payment.

In both cases, the amounts set for each procedure help you understand how much you may spend when using the plan.

9. Do dental plans offer reimbursement?

Some dental plans offer reimbursement, allowing the beneficiary to have treatment with dentists outside the accredited network and request a refund of part of the amount paid.

At Odontoprev, beneficiaries who have this coverage can check reimbursement limits and submit the request on the Beneficiary Portal or in the app.

Other Group brands, such as Bradesco Dental and Prívian, also offer reimbursement options. At Prívian, the benefit may cover care provided abroad.

Even when the contract does not provide free choice of dentists, the ANS sets specific situations in which reimbursement is mandatory. If you cannot schedule a covered procedure, contact the operator to request an alternative for care and keep the protocol number.

10. Can I include dependents on my dental plan?

Yes. Odontoprev offers plans that allow dependents to be included, so other family members can access dental care.

Inclusion rules, such as accepted family relationships and age limits, depend on the product you take out.

On family plans available for online signup, you can enter the details of eligible dependents and see the total price before completing the purchase.

11. How does a dental plan for companies work?

A corporate dental plan is a benefit taken out by the company to offer dental care to the people on the team.

After beneficiaries are included, they can use the procedures covered by the plan through the accredited network.

Odontoprev offers plans for small, medium and large companies, including options for MEIs. Coverage and contract conditions vary according to the product and the profile of the business.

The company also has specialized support to choose the plan and receive guidance on managing the benefit.
